Between Steps (연애박사) – ENA, from October 5

Choo Young Woo plays Park Min Jae, a former swimmer who lost his right leg to illness and is now working toward a PhD in robotics. Kim So Hyun is Im Yoo Jin, a graduate student who walked away from her first plan and is still figuring out the next one. They meet by chance, and a slow, tender romance grows between two people rebuilding their lives. It is the final work of the late director Ahn Pan Seok (Something in the Rain), with a script by Min Hyo Jung. Twelve episodes air Mondays and Tuesdays at 10 p.m. KST, and the premiere drew 1.8% nationwide (Nielsen Korea). In Korea it streams on Genie TV and Disney+; an international release had not been confirmed when we checked.

Doctor X: Age of the White Mafia (닥터X: 하얀 마피아의 시대) – SBS, from October 9

Kim Ji Won returns to TV as Gye Soo Jung, a genius surgeon with no margin for error and zero interest in hospital politics. Instead of bowing to the people who run the place, she lets her work in the operating room speak, and that makes her a real problem for a corrupt system. Lee Jung Eun plays Jang Hee Sook, a shrewd dealmaker who becomes her unlikely partner, with Son Hyun Joo and Kim Woo Seok also in the cast. The series is a Korean remake of the long-running Japanese hit Doctor-X, pitched by SBS as a medical noir. Twelve episodes air Fridays and Saturdays at 9:50 p.m. KST, and Netflix releases them on the same days, including in Brazil with Portuguese dubbing.

Take Charge of My Heart (나를 충전해줘) – Netflix, October 9

Baek Ho Rang (Kim Young Kwang) is a chaebol executive whose life depends on an artificial heart and its battery. Na Bo Bae (Chae Soo Bin) is a drama writer who was struck by lightning as a child and now gives people a jolt whenever she touches them. When his battery runs low, he discovers that simply being close to her recharges it. She, meanwhile, needs some real romance experience for a script. The solution: a three-month contract built on skinship. Based on a web novel and directed by Park Su Won, this fantasy rom-com drops all 12 episodes at once on Netflix worldwide. Expect sparks, literally.

100 Days of Deception (100일의 거짓말) – tvN, from October 10

Gyeongseong (today's Seoul), 1932, under Japanese colonial rule. Lee Ga Kyung (Kim You Jung) is the city's best pickpocket, recruited by the independence movement to slip into the Japanese Government-General under cover. There she keeps running into Kim Tae Woong, also known as Sato Hideo (GOT7's Park Jinyoung), an elite interpreter raised as the adopted son of a powerful colonial official played by Jin Sun Kyu. Both are hiding their real goals, so every meeting is half flirting, half interrogation. Kim Hyun Joo plays a resistance sniper and Lee Moo Saeng a Korean American reporter. This is tvN's 20th-anniversary drama: 16 episodes, Saturdays and Sundays at 9:10 p.m. KST, streaming weekly on Netflix around the world.

Love in Disguise (나의 유죄인간) – tvN, from October 19

Yoon Yi Jun (Yim Si Wan) is the polished third-generation heir of Korea's top conglomerate, and the main suspect in a murder case. To get close to him, Kang Jae Hee (Seol In Ah), a former special forces officer, takes a job as his new secretary while disguised as a man. The mission is to find the truth; the trouble starts when watching him and falling for him begin to blur. Kim Jung Hyun plays his friend and lawyer, and Yeonwoo plays the chairman's secretary. Adapted from the webtoon Why Don't You Know She's a Woman?, this 12-episode romance thriller airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8:50 p.m. KST and is set to stream on Prime Video, including in Brazil.

Still airing: The Ordinary Jackpot (로또 1등도 출근합니다) – TVING and tvN

If you would rather jump into something already in full swing, try this one. Sales team leader Gong Eun Tae (Lee Jun Hyuk) wins a lottery jackpot worth about 1.3 billion won and then does the unthinkable: he goes back to the office the next morning. With money in the bank and nothing left to fear, he stops swallowing the daily disrespect, and the whole team feels the shift. Seo Hyun Woo and Oh Dae Hwan co-star. Written by Seo In Ha from her own web novel and directed by Yoon Young Bin, the 10-episode series opened on TVING on September 10 and airs on tvN on Mondays and Tuesdays. It streams on Viki, and episode 8 hit a personal-best 5.9% rating.
