Dreaming of rings: meaning in Korea

In Korea, a ring in a dream is a promise: commitments, contracts, unions and, sometimes, the taemong of a precious child.

What they say in Korea 반지꿈

In Korea, rings are everywhere in love life: couples wear matching rings, keopeul ring, and celebrate one hundred days together with gifts. In kkumhaemong, dreaming of a ring is said to stand for a commitment or a promise: a relationship becoming official, a contract getting signed or a work alliance. Receiving a gold ring or one set with precious stones is read as a valuable offer or a form of recognition. If the ring fits perfectly, the reading is harmony. Losing a ring is read as a change in a commitment. It is also a classic taemong (태몽), especially if the ring sparkles brightly.

Depending on the details

if you receive a ring

A precious promise: a commitment, a job offer or a contract. If the ring is gold or set with shining stones, the reading is even more favorable.

if you lose a ring

A commitment changing shape. It does not necessarily break: it may transform. It is worth talking clearly about what each side expects.

if the ring does not fit

A promise that does not match what you want right now. It is an invitation to review agreements and kindly say what you really need.

And luck?

After dreaming of a ring, a Korean might go over that pending contract, or give a little gift to someone special.

In other traditions

In the West a ring in a dream is tied to commitment, faithfulness, union, marriage or loyalty. Losing it can reflect fear of breaking a bond, and finding one, a new relationship.
